Technically, NDC (New Distribution Capability) is a messaging protocol based on XML technology. Thanks to NDC, customization can reach a new level and paves the way for a new type of retailing for travel.
NDC enables airlines for more control on the offers they build, while enhancing the travel retailing experience through advanced merchandizing offers distributed via travel sellers.
Amadeus is delivering a full end-to-end integration of content via NDC connectivity into the travel sellers’ ecosystem, focusing on 3 pillars:
The Content that makes the difference: adding in regularly new airlines, to access the widest range of travel offers on one platform, ensuring this content is differentiated, and available through normalized standards, so that travel sellers can search, book and service different airlines’ NDC and other content in the same way.
The Capabilities to ensure better usability, with regular innovations (34 patents delivered on NDC) and more than one new feature per week in 2023, organized around the enhanced user interfaces, the shopping experience, the increased merchandizing and servicing and the better ecosystem integration.
The Customer adoption: with a complete set of onboarding set of tools tracked with key performance indicators.
Key benefits
Key benefits for travel sellers are to:
✓ Attract and retain customers with new content, that is differentiated with Dynamic pricing, Promotion codes, Frequent flyers discounts, Bundles and exclusive ancillaries' discounts, contextualized upsell offers, Mileage accrual information and much more.
✓ Increase revenues and margins with attractive fares.
✓ Benefit from end-to-end integration across their ecosystem.
How does NDC work?
Booking NDC content in Amadeus Selling Platform Connect is similar to booking other types of air content. A key difference is in the terminology. In NDC, you find collections of services, referred to as Offers. Offers are then turned into bookings, referred to as Orders. When using All Fares in Amadeus Selling Platform Connect, you won't notice a big difference.
